Traditional Buildings of County Donegal’ seminar Home and Dry Seminar Vernacular Architecture in West Donegal Seminar Heart and Home Vernacular Architecture

The County Donegal Heritage Office, Cultural Services, Donegal County Council has organised very successful seminars on vernacular architecture and traditional building skills in the past, all of which have been over-subscribed. These include:

 

  • 'Hearth & Home' Vernacular Architecture Seminar in association with Cumann Staire Chill Chartha, Cill Charthaigh / Kilcar (2012)
  • Traditional Building Skills' Field School in association with the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society, Gabhla / Gola Island (2010)
  • ‘Traditional Buildings of County Donegal’ seminar, Culdaff (2008)
  • ‘Survey of Dry-Stone Walls in County Donegal ’ seminar in association with Irish Stone Walls Forum, Gort an Choirce / Gortahork (2008)
  • ‘Vernacular Architecture in West Donegal’ seminar in association with Cumann Staire Cloich Cheann Fhaola, Machaire Uí Rabhartaigh / Magheraroarty (2007)
  • ‘How to Restore Traditional Buildings’ seminar in association with the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society, Machaire Gathlán / Magheragallan & Gabhla / Gola Island (2007)
  • ‘Traditional Field Boundaries’ (Stone Walls & Hedgerows) seminars, Carnowen & Gleann Cholm Cille / Glencolmcille (2006)

These seminars were part-funded by Donegal County Council and The Heritage Council as part of the implementation of the County Donegal Heritage Plan.
